In July 2026, the team of the State University of Trade and Economics (SUTE) took part in the Nuremberg Moot Court – one of the world's largest and most prestigious student competitions in international criminal law, traditionally held in Nuremberg, Germany.

Organized by the International Nuremberg Principles Academy in cooperation with the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, this competition brings together top law students from around the globe. Participants have the unique opportunity to test their skills in simulated court proceedings before international judges, prosecutors, and distinguished legal scholars, competing in the historic Courtroom 600 of the Palace of Justice – the birthplace of modern international law.

The SUTE team was represented by students from the Faculty of International Trade and Law: Adelina Tankovska, Mariia Kovalenko, and Mykhailo Studennykov. Preparation for the competition lasted several months under the guidance of team coaches: Liliia Nevara, Olha Podilchak, and Tamara Kortukova.

Having advanced to the oral rounds, our team ranked among the top 40 teams in the world! During the competition, the students delivered strong performances against the teams from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Japan) and the winners of this year's tournament, the University of Colombo (Sri Lanka).

Throughout the preliminary rounds, our students demonstrated:

• A deep understanding of international criminal law.
• High proficiency in legal English.
• Strong skills in oral advocacy, critical thinking, and public speaking.

The SUTE team represented both the Prosecution and the Defense, competing against top-tier law schools worldwide. The judges praised the Ukrainian students for their solid preparation, professional ethics, and ability to handle complex questioning with agility.

Participation in The Nuremberg Moot Court 2026 is more than a competition; it is a powerful platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and intercultural dialogue. For future international lawyers, this invaluable experience opens new horizons in their professional growth.
