From University Knowledge to Professional Success: How to Build a Career in the Field of Economic Competition Protection

The Department of Economics and Competition Policy at SUTE continues to develop cooperation with alumni and the professional community, creating opportunities for students in the “Antitrust Management”, “Economics” and “Industry Markets” programs to gain up-to-date knowledge, learn from practitioners’ experience, and develop the competencies necessary for successful professional development in the field of economic competition protection. Holding such events is an important component of the professional training of SUTE students, as it allows them to combine theoretical knowledge with the practical experience of leading industry experts, better understand the demands of the modern labor market, and define their own professional goals.

On October 14, 2026, as part of the activities of the student research clubs “Competition of the 21st Century” and “Synergy of Industry Markets”, a career-oriented webinar was held on the topic “How to Build a Successful Career in the Field of Economic Competition Protection.” The event was led by Mykhailo Lazoryshynets – a SUTE alumnus and specialist in antitrust and competition law at the “Arzinger” Law Firm. Mr. Lazoryshynets’ professional experience served as a practical example of successful career development for a university graduate and demonstrated the wide range of opportunities for professional fulfillment in the field of economic competition protection.

During the webinar, students had the opportunity to learn about the specifics of professional work in the field of competition protection, current trends in the development of competition policy, and career growth prospects for young professionals. Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of working in the field of antitrust regulation, the requirements for today’s professionals, the necessary competencies and skills, as well as opportunities for professional development in consulting firms, government agencies, and other institutions involved in protecting economic competition. The value of the meeting also lay in the opportunity to interact with a practitioner who had followed a professional path from being a student at SUTE to becoming a practicing specialist.

SUTE students and faculty members are sincerely grateful to Mr. Mykhailo for his insightful presentation and his interest in training highly qualified specialists in the field of economic competition protection.

We look forward to future meetings and hope for continued fruitful cooperation!
